Are you aware that when a mother gives birth to her child, she instantly gives half of her body’s nutrition to the baby? That a woman in labor is actually putting her own life on the line to deliver new life into this world? A mother’s love can never be measured nor can it be surpassed. Yet they probably do not get as much acknowledgement and honor they deserve. By protecting us from conception to childhood to adulthood, our mothers have more than earned our deep respect and love. And they deserve one day (or more) of recognition for all their efforts.

Mother’s day has evolved beyond simply celebrating women’s courage for going through the pains and sacrifices of pregnancy. It became a global event that empowers every woman who is, was, will be, and are hoping to be mothers. They get only ONE special day every year to celebrate women’s power and strength, so make sure you make it a memorable Mother’s Day celebration for your mom.

There have been many grand gestures done for mommies on Mother’s Day. You may want to do the same, but if you’re a bit short on the budget, you can always opt to keep it simple. Cook her favorite home-cooked meal. Tend her plants for the day. Buy her a simple gift. Engage in that heart-to-heart talk you’ve postponed for years. Whatever you decide on doing, make it special.

But on top of everything, keep in mind that Mother’s Day or not, the most meaningful gift you can give your mother is your full acknowledgement, acceptance, and appreciation of who she is and what she does.
